Backing up your drone or camera footage on the go

While on a paid shoot or expensive vacation, losing your footage or images can be painful in more ways than one. Not only do you lose those experiences, but potentially a client as well. You might even get sued!

I've experienced this first hand. While on vacation in the Smokey Mountains a few months ago, I captured some epic drone shots and I couldn't wait to get back and edit everything. Well, life happened I got busy. I forgot about the drone footage. Shortly thereafter, I went to do a real estate shoot and reformatted the memory card beforehand, wiping the drone footage I forgot about from my vacation. When I eventually sat down to edit our vacation video, I was pretty upset that I erased the drone shots. I tried to recover the data, but it was too corrupted.

Outside of human error, there are environmental concerns, thieves, and other mishaps that can result in losing your photos or video. If you’re like most people, you probably aren’t bringing your desktop or laptop computer with you everywhere you go to back up your files. So what’s the next best solution?

Currently, the best solution is the new Western Digital My Passport Wireless SSD. It allows you to easily backup your memory cards on the go. You can even view the files wirelessly on your phone or tablet with their app. It can also be used as a standalone external hard drive for you main computer.
